Rosita Serrano Obituary

Rosita Rita (Mengual) Serrano, 85, longtime resident of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Ingraham Manor in Bristol. She is now reunited with her loving husband, Peter G. Serrano, who predeceased her in 2011. Together they shared 53 devoted years of love, laughter, and friendship.
Rosita was born on October 24, 1936 in New Britain, daughter to the late Juan and Rosario (Sastre) Mengual. Rosita and Peter settled in Plainville where they raised their four children. She enjoyed maintaining the family home and taking care of her three active sons and her beautiful daughter. Rosita was then blessed with the births of her grandchildren and subsequent three great-grandchildren; who she adored and who greatly enriched her life. Rosita was most passionate about being a mother, grandmother, and homemaker; this was most important to her and she cherished and exceeded in these roles at all times. Rosita loved to garden, both with her floral and vegetable gardens. She was most proud of her tomato plants and loved to share her surplus produce with her family. She was very artistic and creative, spending hours completing a beautiful embroidery project, water painting, or intricate coloring design. She loved her iPad, crossword puzzles, reading on her back patio, and going on long drives to the family cottage in Niantic. A special passion of hers was looking for beautiful cardinals. Our Rose will forever be missed.
Rosita is survived by her children, Peter Serrano, David Serrano (Cheryl), Edward Serrano (Julie), and Linda Kielbowicz (Robert); her grandchildren, Michael Serrano, Dylan Serrano, Peter Serrano, Melynda Serrano, Brett Berardi, and Alyssa Berardi; her great-grandchildren, Chase Serrano, Ryan Serrano, and Brielle Rosita Serrano. She also leaves behind her feline companion, Flora, who she very much loved. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Fernando Mengual.
