Robert "Bob" Michalic Obituary

Robert “Bob” Michalic, 81, of Plainville passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Bristol Hospital, Connecticut. He was the husband of Krista (Piispanen) Michalic with whom he shared 58 years of marriage with three beautiful children Lia, Paul and Erik.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on February 17, 1941 he was the oldest of four brothers to the late John and Wanda (Bartnikowski) Michalic. He was raised and educated in Queens, New York.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country for 25 years. During those years he had toured Vietnam twice from 1965 to 1966 and from 1969 to 1970. He also toured in Antarctica as a helicopter mechanic and toured in Greenland working with a scientist. He retired in 1985 from the Army as a 1st Sergeant. Stateside, Bob had also been stationed in many wonderful places. Always getting involved wherever he was living with his family. In Pennsylvania he also was a volunteer firefighter. After his retirement he joined the United States Postal Service (USPS), serving 25 years and retired in 2010 as a supervisor. After his retirement from the post office, he also participated in different community services in the town of Plainville–he served as the Wetland Commission’s Secretary and as a town moderator. He enjoyed crafting and spending time with his family during his free time.

In addition to his wife, Krista, he leaves his daughter, Lia (Michalic) Martin and her husband, Wayne and their children, Sara, Amy and Mary-Kate; his son, Paul Michalic and his wife, Kemche (Donig) and their children, Ashley, Kayla, Olivia, Jack and Nicholas; his son, Erik Michalic and his wife, Stacey (Rabideau) and their children Riley and Joseph; his brother, John Michalic; four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Dennis Michalic with wife, Carol, brother Gary Michalic and his sister-in-law, Suzan.
