Richard W. Carbone

Richard W. Carbone of New Britain, formerly of Cromwell, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021, after a brief illness.

Richy was born May 11, 1962, in New Britain to Samuel Carbone, Sr. and the late Mary (Bernardi) Carbone. He attended local schools, and was a graduate of EC Goodwin Technical High School.  Richy was an avid fisherman, loved watching football with his brother, and listening, singing and dancing along to all types of music, (especially Free Bird!), visiting with friends and family or starting a good card game.   

Besides his father, he is survived by two brothers Samuel Carbone, Jr of Florida and Gary Carbone and his wife Carol of New Britain; a sister, Linda DeZenzo & her husband Tom of Burlington; his Niece, Krystina Carbone of New Britain; three Aunts, Rose Banasik and Helene Carbone of New Britain and Mary Ann Bernardi of Avon; as well as several cousins and dear friends, including his lifelong buddies Neal and Angelo.  He was predeceased by his godson, Michael Carbone and his nephew, Brian Wilson.

The Family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Lake New Britain for all their support and love to Richy and our family while he was in their care, as well as his special friend & roommate Marvin.

Richy was a devoted Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He touched so many lives with his infectious, larger than life personality. He loved hard, and he fought harder. No matter what obstacles life threw at him, he faced them with courage & strength. He was not only a sounding board for his family and friends, but the person we could look up to, turn to, and strive to be. He always said there are talkers and doers in life, Richy was a doer, until the end.

In lieu of flowers, Richy may be remembered with contributions to a charity that is meaningful to the donor.

Family and friends may gather in celebration of Richy’s life with a walk-through visitation on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, from 4-6 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.  Prayers and words of remembrance will be shared at 6:00 p.m.  Guests are asked to attend in accordance with CDC guidelines, wear face coverings and practice social distancing.  For online expressions of sympathy, please visit Richy’s tribute page at www.plainvillefuneralhome.com
