Mary Michaud Obituary

Mary M. Michaud, 88, of Plainville passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday, April 29, 2023 after a courageous two-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. Her loving family was by her side. She is now reunited with her devoted husband of 41 years, Gary C. Michaud.

Mary was born on October 13, 1934 in Caribou, Maine daughter to the late Henry and Lucie (Hebert) Bell. A devoted and loving wife, mother, and memere. Mary spent many years caring for her family, a blessing that came natural to her. She lived every day with a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life, no matter what circumstances came her way. Mary was loved by all; her family, her friends, her neighbors, especially the neighborhood kids who she happily baby sat for several years instilling kindness and generosity into all she surrounded herself with. A nickname of many, Mary was well-known as “Mangia Mary” making sure no one ever went hungry and enjoyed a delicious meal. She volunteered for a few years at Midstate Medical Center and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Mary enjoyed shopping, going to eat at the 99 Restaurant, and had a knack for ceramics. She was a wonderful mother and caregiver, and even through her battle with cancer she kept smiling.  She is now at rest, with a new job to do: be the guardian angel for her family. She will be missed tremendously and everyone will always remember her, forever cherishing the memories they shared with her throughout her 88 years of a blessed life.

Mary’s family would like to thank the Hartford Healthcare Hospice team and the Franciscan Ever There Care Team for their exceptional care and compassion, especially for helping to keep their mom at home where she was most comforted. A special thanks to Janifer Abraham, who was Mary’s live in aid, who took wonderful care of Mary and was a true godsend to their family.

Mary is survived by her children, Denise Hermann and her husband, Mark, Greg Michaud, and Andrew Michaud; her grandchildren, Thomas Michaud and his wife, Becca, Karyl Armstrong and her husband, Stuart, Christopher Michaud and his wife, Kellie, Daniel Michaud, Natalie Michaud, Aimee Michaud, Deirdre Hermann, and Kyle Hermann; her great-grandchildren, Avery Michaud, Camden Michaud, Connor Armstrong, and Cory Michaud; her brother, Gilbert Bell; her sister, Cecile Cammilleri; her former daughter-in-law, Tracey Press, and several extended family members. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Michaud.
