Katherine Irene (Gonska) Pietrowicz, 61, of Bristol, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021.

Born on March 27, 1959, she was the daughter of Gladys (Bean) Waz of Bristol and the late Walter Gonska. Katherine was a graduate of Terryville High School, and furthered her education at UCONN, Storrs campus.

A woman of great strength, Katherine fought hard and loved her family deeply. She looked forward to frequent pizza lunches with her daughters and granddaughters, and each and every holiday celebration. She had a love for swimming, visiting the beach as often as she could, and enjoyed treasure hunting at thrift stores. Katherine found comfort in crocheting, making scarfs, purses and blankets for her friends and family to cherish. A devout Catholic and faithful communicant of St. Joseph Church in Bristol, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace with God.

Welcomed home by her late father, Walter Gonska, she leaves her mother, Gladys Waz of Bristol, who was her biggest champion; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine Pietrowicz-Joanis and her husband Benedict Joanis of Montclair NJ, and Katie Martineau and her husband, Chad of Harwinton; and will be dearly remembered by her three granddaughters Lilli, Brooke and Annabelle. She also leaves the father of her daughters, Steven Pietrowicz of Plainville and her longtime companion Robert Voisine, with whom she shared much joy and love for the past 15 years.

In lieu of flowers, Katherine may be remembered with contributions to a charity that is meaningful to the donor.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her family at St. Joseph Church in Bristol. She will be laid to rest near her father at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.
