Joseph Roger Pelletier

Joseph Roger Pelletier, 88, of Plainville passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021.  He was the husband of Dorothy May Pelletier, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

Roger was born in St Agatha, Maine on September 27, 1933 to Marie Dube and Sam Pelletier, and was the last surviving of 11 siblings.  Dot and Roger settled in Plainville shortly after their marriage, where they raised their four children and became proud grandparents, and great-grandparents.  Dot passed away on March 29, 2020.

Roger enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and gardening.  He was a talented carpenter and artist, always ready and willing to help anyone.  Roger was a US Army veteran, retired from Fafnir Bearings in 1992 after 40 years and was a UConn Women’s Basketball fan.

Roger was predeceased by his son Norman and son-in-law Leo Gagnon.  He leaves behind his children Diane Gagnon, Denise Avery, Mark and his wife Leigh (Stagis); his grandchildren Kimberly and her husband Brian Pollock, Norman Pelletier, Kevin Avery, Kayla and her husband Dominic Kringlen, Melissa Avery, Brian Pelletier and his fiancée Veronica Monteyro; and his great-grandchildren Logan Kringlen and Zachary Pollock.

In lieu of flowers, Joseph may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, PO Box 233, Plainville, CT 06062.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the lives of Dot and Roger will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St, Plainville.  Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.  Family and friends may gather at the church prior to the Mass, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday.  The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to the Pelletier family for their trust.  For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
