Joan Mae (Chackulski) Shea

Joan Mae (Chackulski) Shea, 82, of Bristol, formerly of Plainville and Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She is now reunited with her loving husband of 50 years, Edward J. Shea, who predeceased her in 2010.

Joan was born on May 23, 1938 in New Britain daughter to the late Zigmond J. and Mae J. (Mader) Chackulski. She resided in Plainville until her retirement and then moved down to Vero Beach, FL, where she and her husband, Edward, spent 17 wonderful years together. Joan returned to CT shortly after her husband’s passing and has been residing in Bristol for several years. Joan was a faithful, devoted Catholic and a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville for many years. She spent most of her life as a house wife and maintained a well-kept home for her family to join together and enjoy each other’s company. Joan will be missed dearly, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loving husband.

Joan is survived by her son, Kevin Shea and his wife, Rosa, of Plainville and her brother, Jerry Chackulski.

A graveside service in celebration of Joan’s life will be held privately in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville with Father Raymond Smialowski, Our Lady of Mercy Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan can be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 19 S. Canal Street, Plainville, CT 06062. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville extends their gratitude to the Shea family for their trust.
