Jeffery John Chapman

Jeffery John “Jay” Chapman, 66, of Florida, formerly of Plainville, passed away with his beloved children by his side on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

Born in New Britain on July 24, 1954, he was one of two sons to Robert and Jeanette (Pepin) Hinkson. Raised and educated in Berlin, Jay settled in Plainville where he raised his two children.  A valued employee of Manafort Brothers, Inc. since the age of 15, Jay retired to Florida after more than 40 years of dedication.   A well-known and talented dart player, Jay traveled to and won countless tournaments, spreading his humor and sarcasm along the way.  A pool shark and bowling enthusiast, he was a fan of NASCAR and relished in being close to Daytona upon moving to Florida 7 years ago.   A longtime, optimistic LOTTO player, he never a let a day go by without checking his numbers.   Remembered for his quick wit and infectious personality, Jay was full of life leaving everyone in his presence with a smile on their face.  He will be missed beyond words, leaving a legacy of love and laughter.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his children, Stacy Chapman Lipski and her husband, Steven and Justin Chapman and his girlfriend, Aimee Leger.  He was the proud Pop Pop to Aaliyah Chapman, with whom he shared a special bond, Zachary Chapman, Emily Makhijani, and Maci Lipski; his brother, Glen Chapman; his sister, Shirley Hinkson; and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Grandma Anna and Pop Pop Sylvio Pepin.

A celebration of Jay’s life will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.
