Janice Scott Obituary

Janice May (Clark) Scott, 86, of Southington, passed away peacefully at Southington Care Center on Saturday, April 20, 2024.  Janice has made her journey into Heaven to be reunited with her loving husband, Alan G. Scott, who predeceased her on September 16, 2022. Together, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary the week after his passing.

Janice was born in Bristol, CT on April 12, 1938 daughter of the late John and Daisy Clark. Following her high school graduation, Janice started her career with Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford and spent some time working at The Simsbury Bank. The mother of three sons, Janice leaves behind her children, David Scott and his wife, Donna of Southington, John Scott and his wife, Mary, of Plantsville, and Christopher Scott, of Drummond Island, Michigan; her 6 grandchildren, whom she was very proud of and enjoyed watching them flourish into adults, Cody and his wife, Farva, of New York, Tyler, of Southington, Alexis and her husband, Maxwell, of Michigan, Mikayla, Jordan, and Max, all of Michigan; her sister, Candace Clark, of France; her brother, Glenn Clark, of Massachusetts; her brother-in-law, Donald Scott, of Canton; a special niece Patty Farrell and her husband, Brendon, of Bolton; and several other nieces and nephews; and her special girlfriend, Judy and her late husband, Frank, that shared many trips and laughs together. She was predeceased by her brother, Duane Clark.

Janice’s life took many turns. With a passion to learn and aspirations to fulfill, she decided when she was in her 40’s to get a college degree in order to pursue her dream as a Therapeutic Recreation Director. She was employed by Brightview Convalescent Home of Avon for 28 years as their director of recreation. Janice loved the elderly and was their biggest advocate holding positions on the CT State Board CATRD for many years. She enjoyed doing cultural programs for the elderly patients she cared for and appreciated the knowledge and wisdom they shared with her. Following retirement, she continued to stay active and participate in programs for local convalescent homes  and senior centers.

Janice, alongside her husband, Alan, had a passion for antiquing. For 50 years, they appreciated traveling to antique shows from CT to Vermont. “Johnny Cake Mountain Antiques” was the name of the  business that they owned and operated for many years. As a State Historian, Janice participated in many historical shows in New England. Alan and Janice found serenity at their cottage on Lake St. Catherine in Vermont. Janice's love for music and theater filled her life with joy and creativity. Her presence illuminated every production she graced with her voice and talent, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of witnessing her performances.

In Janice’s own words about her life – “What a Ride.” Her melodious voice will echo in our hearts forever, and her legacy of passion and talent will inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, Janice, may your songs continue to resonate in eternity.

Janice’s family will celebrate her life privately.
