Hilton "Hilty Babe" Shields Obituary

Hilton (Hilty Babe) Shields, 68 of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, January 2, 2023.  He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 41 years, Paula Elizabeth Shields. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He was born in Bristol CT, on March 23, 1954, and was one of five children born to Elfrieda (Brayall) Shields of West Hartford and the late Carl Shields, Sr.  Raised and educated in Terryville, he had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting with his good friend, Mario Dionne and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and pool player. He worked for 40 years in a variety of jobs; steel, carpentry, and fabrication. There was not a job he could not do. He was always willing to help family and friends with any project. He was proud that he was able to work with Habitat for Humanity, helping to rebuild New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. Here for a good time, but unfortunately not a long time, he will be missed beyond measure by his family and many cherished friends.

Fun-loving and giver of nicknames, he is survived by his children, Jason “Handsome Boy” Poirier and his wife Jenny, Elizabethe “FeeFee” Shields and her fiancé Mike “Fireman Mike” Sitaro, Jason “Jay Bird” Rosa and his late fiancée Kelly Robotham, and Heather “Heather Lynn” Tenan and her husband, Frank “Frankie” Tenan, Jr.  He also leaves his adored grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Nathaniel, Shayde, Anthony, Jacob, Julia, Olivia, and Joshua; his great-grandchildren, Carter, and Emerson; brother, Carl Shields, Jr and husband Harvey Brown; sister Brenda Senesac and husband Robert; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.  He also leaves behind his girlfriend Cindy Fraczek. Hilton was predeceased by brothers Clarence and Steven Shields (Steven who was his best friend).

Please remember Hilton by paying it forward with a random act of kindness.

A celebration of Hilton’s life will be held at a later date.   The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to the Shields family for their trust.  To share a memory or message of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
