Germain J. “Gerry” Brousseau, 91, of Plainville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday October 6, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Carline (Clavette) Brousseau, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.
Born in Quebec, Canada on August 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Leo and Lydia (Couture) Brousseau. Gerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He settled in Plainville upon being honorably discharged in 1954, and raised his three loving daughters alongside his late wife Doris (Desjardins) who predeceased him in 1987. Gerry was a self-employed master electrician, having owned and operated MG Electric teaching many young electricians the trade. Proud of his heritage, Gerry was a longtime member of the French Businessmen Association and the Franco American Club where he and Carline enjoyed many card games, dances and social events. Gerry was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, receiving the prestigious St. Joseph Appreciation Award at the cathedral in Hartford for his volunteerism and dedication. Remembered for his love for his family, God and his country, he will be missed dearly.
In addition to his wife, Carline he leaves his children Diane Crane (Jeffrey), Susan Sledzik (David), Phyllis Rosenfield (Gregg); his step-children Steve Guerrette (Michele), Rick Guerrette (Susan), Lisa Goralski (Keith); his grandchildren Lauren Crane, Courtney Crane, Ryan Sledzik, Kayla Sledzik, Jessica McCarthy (Keith), Rachel Rosenfield, Emily Rosenfield (Ariel Ben Aharon), Nicole Rosenfield, Jesse Rosenfield (Brittany), Arabella Goralski, Alex Goralski, Abby Goralski , Rebecca Guerrette, Nicole Geary, Amanda Guerrette, Patrick Guerrette and great- grandchildren Audrey McCarthy and Jayden Rosenfield. He also leaves his brother, Clement and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Paul, Antonio, Jeanne, Marie, Ann, Benoit, Robert, Rose, Gertrude, Majella, Gislaine, and Camillian.

A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Gerry’s life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Family and friends may gather prior to the mass, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.
