Daniel Roy Sr. Obituary

Daniel Roger Roy Sr., 60, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband and best friend of Michele (Boroski) Roy for 34 years.

Daniel was born on January 6, 1963 in Bristol, CT son to the late Roger Roy and Marsha Lemley. Dan was a mechanic by trade, highly talented in his profession and created many lasting relationships with clients who became friends over the years. He was trustworthy, honest and willing to help out anyone with his vast knowledge and profound love for anything automotive. A love for toys and wind therapy, Dan enjoyed drag racing, quadding, and especially snowmobiling the trails, always on a Yamaha although more recently on an Artic Cat, in upstate Maine with family and friends, a yearly tradition he looked forward to. The state of Maine held a special place in Dan’s heart, including Eagle Lake and St. Agatha. He was a longtime Harley rider and over the years went on many excursions with family and friends. Above all, Dan enjoyed spending quality time with his family, whether it be watching his pride and joy grandchildren, hanging with his nephews, or having a family gathering where all were together. He loved all of his children unconditionally and becoming a grandfather was one of his proudest moments, holding special relationships with each grandchild that came along the way. Their biggest supporter, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and cheering them on. A selfless, generous man, with a heart of gold, Dan will be missed beyond measure by all who were blessed to have known him. His hard-working hands are at rest and his family and friends take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, as they cherish the many wonderful memories they have shared over the years.

In addition to his wife, Michele, Dan is survived by his children, Michael Contrastano and his wife, Shannon, of Auburndale, MA, Daniel Roy and his wife, Nicki, of NC, Tony Contrastano and his wife, Heather, of Burlington, CT, and Jennifer Allocco and her husband, Jared, of Plymouth, CT; his beloved grandchildren, David, Blake, Lucas, John Henry, Lily, Levon, Mary, Daniel III, and Jolee; his sister, Debra Roy and her husband, Mike, of Bristol, CT; his grandmother, Gladys Roy, of Plainville, CT; his step-father, Earl Lemley, of Forestville, CT; his step-mother, Geri Roy, of Burlington, CT; and many extended family members and a large circle of friends. He also leaves behind his German Shepherd companion, “his buddy” Tommy. He was predeceased by his parents, Roger Roy and Marsha Lemley, and his grandson, Christopher Roy.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville.
