A graveside service in celebration of the lives of Catherine and John will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, 522 Terryville Ave. Bristol
Catherine N. (Sweet) Sladeck, 93 of Plainville, passed away Friday May 15, 2020 at Apple Rehab of Farmington Valley in Plainville. She was the wife of the late John W. Sladeck, who predeceased her in December of 2009 and with whom she shared 39 years of marriage.
Catherine was born April 26, 1927 in Bristol, a daughter of the late Adrian N. and Nellie Josephine (Parker) Sweet. She attended Bristol schools and had been employed by various restaurants in the Bristol area. Catherine was also the owner of Village Liquors in Bristol and had managed Log Cabin Package Store in Farmington. Catherine was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville.
Catherine leaves her children, Frederick W. Korn, III and his wife Deena-Kay of Plainville, Gary C. Korn of Larkspur, CA, Janet L. Pulsifer of South Harpswell, ME, Russell A. Korn of Bristol and Nancy E. Weiss and her husband Richard of Mystic, her grandchildren, Jolene Wodatch, Frederick Korn, IV, Jason and Eric Pulsifer, Amanda Firczak, Brian, Kristin and Joshua Korn, Marc Grabulis and Katherine Leslie, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her former husband Frederick W. Korn, Jr in 1992, her daughter, Donna Rae Korn in 1980, her brothers, Homer M. Sweet and Adrian N. Sweet, Jr and her sister, Frances G. Hebert.
A graveside service in celebration of Catherine’s life will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol and will be announced at a later date when all are able to safely gather together. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to the Sladeck family for their trust.
