Candito Carroccia Obituary

Dr. Candito C. Carroccia, affectionately known as “Candi,” loving husband, father, nonno, son, brother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the Hospital of Central CT - New Britain, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Donna (Bonetti) Carroccia and together they shared 38 years of marriage.

Candito was born on July 27, 1960 in Hartford, CT son to Mario and Olinda (Quinto) Carroccia. Candito was a 1979 graduate of Plainville High School and a lifelong resident of Plainville. Candi was happiest when he was spending time with his family - his loving wife, who he adored more than anything; his children, the center of his universe; their spouses, who he often said he couldn’t have handpicked better; and his grandson, the absolute light of his life. Candi enjoyed golfing with family and friends and was a die-hard New York Mets and Patriots fan. Every summer he looked forward to spending time on Cape Cod, enjoying seafood, walking West Dennis Beach, watching sunsets on Sea Street Beach and ice cream at the Sundae School. Candi loved gathering with his extended family on holidays where he was often seen dressing up as Santa Claus for the kids or arguing that we weren’t making enough pasta.

Dr. Candi, Chiropractor of the Year in 1995 from the Connecticut Chiropractic Association, performed his pre-chiropractic studies at the University of Connecticut and received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate in Chiropractic from the National College of Chiropractic. He was a Diplomate, was Board Certified in Chiropractic Neurology and received a Fellowship in Brain Injury and Rehabilitation. He studied extensively with the Carrick Institute. Candito served on the Connecticut Chiropractic Association Executive Board for 10 years including President of the Connecticut Chiropractic Association and President of the New England Chiropractic Association. Before he passed, he was serving as Chairman on the CT Chiropractic Board of Examiners.

In addition to his wife, Donna, and his parents, Mario and Olinda, Candito is survived by his sister, Palma Carroccia; his son, Kevin Carroccia and his wife, Donna (Hamzy) Carroccia; his grandson, Grayson Carroccia; his daughter, Kristen (Carroccia) DeLucia and her husband, Jeffrey DeLucia; his golden doodle, Shea; his Chiropractic business partner and good friend, Lewis Labbadia; several extended family members, a large circle of friends, and many cherished patients that he cared for over the years.
