Betty Jane (Salley) Brackett, 82, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Bristol, CT, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on July 1, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving and beloved wife to Wallace “Wally” Brackett for 64 wonderful years.
Betty was born in Bristol, CT on December 15, 1938, daughter to the late Norris and Pearl (Hews) Salley. She lived most of her life in Bristol and attended Bristol schools. Betty married the love of her life, Wally; in 1957 and in 1961 they started their family, had three children, and raised them in Bristol, CT. In 1984, when their family was grown, Betty and Wally built their dream home on Congamond Lake in Southwick, MA, and lived there until moving back to Bristol in 1995. Together they spent the next several years back in Bristol, helping to watch their grandchildren and spending time with family. In 2014 they retired to Palm Coast, FL. Formerly, she was a member of the Ladies Guild and Church Choir at St. Andrews Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed doing ceramics for many years. Betty loved watching UCONN women’s basketball and singing along with 50’s and 60’s music, along with gospel music, and really enjoyed spending time with her family. Betty loved to travel with Wally and other family members and friends, until her health declined. She always made people feel welcomed at their home, always had a smile and a big hug for everyone. Betty will be missed immensely as her family and friends cherish the memories they have shared together over the years.
In addition to her husband, Wallace, Betty is survived by her children, Karen Brackett Motta (Sam Jr.), Penny Brackett Ives (Gary), Todd Brackett (Tammie); her grandchildren, Samantha Motta and her fiancé David Angelillo, Nicholas Motta (Ashley), Rachel Motta (Gary), Kyle Raymond (Brandi), Jamie Raymond, Amber Raymond (Rob), Katherine Ives and her fiancé Jordon Rosario, Jeff Hinds-Brackett, and Margaret Stacy. She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, with the 12th great-grandchild due in September, her very special niece, that was like a daughter to her, Jennifer Sloan (Rob) and their children Collin and Kiersten and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Marion Skelskey, Velma Ciquera, her brother Percy Salley and all of her in-laws.
