Anna Marie (Main) Smedick, 90, of Plainville, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday September 2, 2021. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Henry M. “Hank” Smedick, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in Plainville on August 2, 1931, she was one of four children and the only daughter to the late Anthony and Maria (Pace) Main. A lifelong resident of Plainville, she and Hank remained in their hometown where they raised their four children and supported many local organizations including the Cub Scouts, AARP, the Plainville Senior Center and the Commission for Aging. Their retirement years were spent fulfilling their love for travel and the game of golf, with Anna “allegedly” getting a hole in one during a visit to Bermuda. A faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mercy church, Anna spent many days volunteering at their many events and fundraisers. She leaves a legacy of love for her family and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband Hank, she was predeceased by her son, Charles “Chic” Smedick, and her three brothers, Dewey, Rocco, and Domenic. She leaves her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy (Donald) Hatch of AZ and Dina (Todd) Harris of CA; her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel (Cynthia) Smedick of Plainville and her daughter-in-law Barbara Smedick. She had many loving nieces and nephews, in particular her special niece Janet Bystrek who doted on her Aunt Anna and whose kindness is forever appreciated. Anna was the proud grandmother to Darren, Nicholas and Jeffrey Smedick, Greg Schuler, Tessa Houston, Michael Eldridge and Emily and Faith Harris; and leaves her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Thomas Schuler and Nino and Joey Smedick.
In lieu of flowers, Anna may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, PO Box 233, Plainville, CT 06062.
Honoring the family’s wishes, her life will be celebrated with private services. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to the Smedick family for their trust. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit Anna’s tribute page at www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
