Alan Scott Obituary

Alan G. Scott, 83, of Southington, passed away leaving behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Janice M. (Clark) Scott, on September 16, 2022. Together, they would have been celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary the week after his passing.

Alan was born in Hartford, CT on October 18, 1938 son to the late Carl Scott and Olive (Clark) Scott James. He leaves behind his 3 sons, John Scott and his wife, Mary, of Plantsville, David Scott and his wife, Donna, of Southington, and Christopher Scott and his fiance, of Drummond Island, Michigan; his 6 grandchildren, Alexis and her husband, Maxwell, of Washington State, Cody and his wife, Farva, of Pennsylvania, Tyler, of Southington, Mikayla, Jordan, and Max, all of Michigan; his brother, Donald Scott, of Canton; and his niece, Patricia Farrell and her husband Brendon.

Alan was a quiet man who enjoyed reading and repairing antique clocks. He loved to fish on Lake St. Catherine in Vermont where his family had a summer home. Alan and his son, David, caught the biggest fish in the lake, something Alan was very proud of and happy to share the unforgettable moment with his son. Alan loved working in his garden, skilled in both growing vegetables and beautiful flower beds. He worked for the former Sealtest (Kraft Foods) in Hartford, retiring after a 43-year career as a production supervisor. Upon retirement, he took up cooking, and cook he did! He was known for his breads and famous Christmas cookies. Alan and his wife, Janice, both had a passion for antiquing. For 50 years, they appreciated traveling to antique shows from CT to VT, where they found many beautiful antiques and enjoyed each other’s company. “Johnny Cake Mountain Antiques” was the name of the antique business that Alan, alongside his wife, Janice, owned and operated for many years, taking their passion and sharing it with others. In addition to their endeavors with antiquing, Alan and Janice took many trips to Aruba where they enjoyed relaxing and being together. Alan had a special place in his heart for his furry companion, his Pointer dog, Samantha, who brought him many smiles and much love for many years. Rest in peace my love – Janice.
