William Maurice Lacaillade, 68, of Plainville, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by his loved ones, on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on March 18, 1951 and raised in Plainville, Bill attended local schools before enlisting in the Armed Forces in 1969, serving during Vietnam and making a career as a Linguist for the US Army. A sports enthusiast, he became an animal lover in his later years, and was a familiar face around town alongside his many lifelong friends. Remembered for his uniqueness and his sharp intellect, he will be missed, leaving his family with many cherished memories.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Martello and her husband, Tom; his nephews, Frank Pugliese, III and Chris Pugliese, his wife, Nicole, and their children, Devin, Shane and Isabella, with whom he shared many happy times; and his many dear friends whom he always considered his extended family.
Bill’s love for animals may be remembered with contributions to Hearts United Cat Rescue, PO Box 731, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
Family and friends may gather in celebration of Bill’s life on Saturday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. Words of remembrance will be shared at 5:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest privately at the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown.
