Lawrence C. Harper, Jr., 77, of Plainville, loving husband of Ruby (Keyton) Harper, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain.
Born in Boston, MA on May 27, 1941, he was one of five children to the late Lawrence and Doris (McGinnis) Harper, Sr. Raised in Hartford, he attended local schools, and went on to earn his Associate’s Degree from Manchester Community College. He held a longtime career in the aerospace industry, working for various companies before starting his own consulting company, Aerospace Procurement Assoc. Larry was an accomplished first tenor, performing from a young age with several groups in countless venues, including the Apollo Theatre, where his group, The Serenaders took first place two weeks in a row. He and Ruby travelled extensively, mostly to their favorite destination, the beach, and enjoyed many winters in Florida. Larry was a longtime, faithful parishioner at St. Matthew Church in Forestville. A devoted husband, father, and Papa, he will be dearly missed, leaving a legacy of love for his family and many cherished memories.
In addition to his wife, Ruby, he leaves his four daughters, Christine Harper, Elizabeth Inkel and her husband, Paul, Laura Busey, and Jennifer Keen and her husband, Lennox; his step-children, Doug Parsons and Denise Parsons and her boyfriend, Steve Waznia; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his lifelong friend, Ron Criscitiello; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his brother, Bill Harper and his wife, Geri, and was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and Gerald and his sister, Donna Harper.

Funeral services in celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, Forestville. Burial will be held privately with his immediate family. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
