Jean Kathryn (Shaw) Plourde

Jean Kathryn (Shaw) Plourde, 66, of Plainville, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.  She was the beloved wife of Jean Guy Plourde.

Born in Springfield, MA on August 14, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Kathryn (Elliott) Shaw.  A lifelong resident of Plainville, she and Guy settled here upon their marriage where they raised their son and became proud grandparents.  Jean help manage the family business, D & G Contractors, and upon retiring, enjoyed travelling cross country with Guy in their R.V. only to return home early because she missed her grandsons too much!  A woman of great strength and kindheartedness, Jean will be remembered for the love she shared with everyone she came into contact with, and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband, Guy, she leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Amy Plourde of Plainville, and was the adored “Maga” to Peyton, Logan and Griffin Plourde. 

She is survived by her brothers, Don Green and his wife, Debbie and Richard Shaw; her sisters, Lynn Plourde and her husband, Dave, and Diane Bean; along with several nieces, nephews, 6 Godchildren, her best friend, Pam Martin and her husband, Bob, and their children, along with many other dear friends who she treated like family.  She was predeceased by her brother, Sam Green and sister, Janice Allen.

A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd, Southington.  Committal services will follow at West Cemetery, Plainville.  Family and friends may gather on Friday (TODAY) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
