Irene Elizabeth (Wrotniak) Cyr

Irene Elizabeth (Wrotniak) Cyr, 64 of Plainville, loving mother, Babci, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at UCONN Health Center in Farmington.

Irene was born on September 5, 1954, one of four daughters (the sweet one!) to the late Ksawery and Elizbeth (Fray) Wrotniak.  A 1972 graduate of Bristol Eastern High School, she settled in Plainville and quickly started her family, becoming a devoted mother to her three sons.  She dedicated herself to their schooling and extracurricular activities, creating priceless memories and instilling in them her high morals and integrity.  Known for her deep intellect and creativity, Irene was a woman of great strength and kindheartedness, who faced challenges head on with grace, dignity, and little bit of quick wit.  She will be missed dearly, leaving a legacy of love and life lessons for her family. 

She leaves behind her adored sons, Michael Xavier Cyr of Bristol, Matthew Robert Blake Cyr and his wife, Jessica of VA, and Marc Henry Cyr and his wife, Chiara Marsoner of Germany and was the proud Babci to Kaleigh Elizabeth, Madison Marie and Natalie Paige Cyr.  She also leaves her siblings, Halena Nesbit and her husband, Dave of FL, Lydia Brown and her husband, Tom of TX, Emelia (Mary) Boisvert, with whom she shared a special bond, and her husband, Tom, of Plainville and Henry Wrotniak of Farmington; her uncle, Felix Vasilaitis of Bristol, and her aunt and Godmother, Helena Fray of Bristol; along with several nieces and nephews.

Irene’s family extends their sincerest gratitude to the staff and caretakers at Bristol Hospital Nursing Association, especially Elise Bergenty, Roxanne Root and Heidi Creekknore, who became her second family for the past 15 years.

Honoring the family’s wishes, Irene’s life will be celebrated with private services.  She will be laid to rest with her parents at West Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
