David Anderson Obituary

David C. Anderson, 82, of Plainville, loving husband of Wilhelmina “Billie” (Blashke) Anderson, passed away after a brief illness, with his family by his side, on Monday, October 1, 2018.

Born in Farmington on November 18, 1935, he was the last surviving of five children to the late Albert “Pete” and Agnes (Jaques) Anderson.  A visit Lake Compounce led him to the love of his life, Billie, with whom he shared 58 years of love and life adventures.  They spent their beginnings in Germany while David served his country in the US Army, and settled in Plainville upon his discharge where they raised their three children. Always a man of strong work ethics, he worked for First National grocery for over 45 years, while working multiple part time positions to provide for his family, including for the Hartford Courant.  He retired in 1998, though never one to fully retire, he went on to become the go-to guy at Haworth’s Florist until 2013.  He and his “Beautiful Bride” Billie were extensive travelers, visiting many places both near and far, with Ogunquit being one of their favorite stops.  Ever the active and daring “Grampy” he was known to jump in to the waves for some body surfing with his grandkids or hop on the scariest of roller coasters, or, enjoy more peaceful times fishing with his sons, reading a good book or cheering on the Red Sox and Husky basketball teams.  A true gentleman and devout Catholic, with an unwavering kindheartedness, he will be missed greatly leaving a legacy of love for his family and countless cherished memories.

In addition to his wife, Billie, he leaves his children, Jane Clement, Chris Anderson and his wife, Robin, and Peter Anderson and his girlfriend, Shelley Creel; his adored grandchildren, Annie, Nora, and Nils Clement, Jackson Anderson, Wally and Gabe Smykla, Allie, Kristina, and Samantha Fenton; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Brian Clement and his sisters, Peggy Hein, Rosemary Borawski, Barbara Prange, and Kathy Fraioli.

In lieu of flowers, David may be remembered with contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut at https://alz.org/ct or 200 Executive Blvd., #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
